Who is a person/expert on your field that you admire?
Giovanni Sartori was an Italian researcher
in the field of political science, specializing in the comparative study of
politics. His work is one of the most outstanding in the social sciences. He
was born on May 13, 1924, in Florence, Italy. As of 1946, he studied for a
degree in Social Sciences at the University of Florence, and three doctorates,
namely: in Political Science, in History of Modern Philosophy, 1954, and State
Theory, 1955. From then on was He dedicated himself to contribute deeply in the
field of political science not only in Italy but throughout the world. He passed
away on April 4, 2017, in Rome, at the age of 92. Sartori contributed to the
development of different aspects of political science, such as democratic
theory, party systems, or comparative constitutional engineering. His works
have also served to clarify various concepts and methods of this social
science. This is reflected in works such as "Democrazia e
Definizioni", "Stato e Politica nel Pensiero di Benedetto Croce"
or "Political Development and Political Engineering". I like this
author in particular because his critical ideas about the presidential model in
Latin America seem very interesting to me. For this, I have quoted this author
many times in my research papers on this particular topic.
